Does Concrete Stain?

Modern outdoor patio chairs and Full Moon fire - Sticks and Stones

This is one of the most common questions we get! Short answer is yes, all concrete products can stain. Concrete is a natural, porous material that will absorb colours and stains.

Now for the longer answer… At Sticks and Stones Furniture we use the best eco-friendly sealers available but they have their limitations. There are three reasons why we use the sealers we do, and we have gone the extra mile to find the best solution to protect your concrete.

1st: our sealers are eco-friendly and non-toxic, so they do not harm our team, the fish, or you!
2nd: they are easy to apply (also great for our team).
3rd: they are readily available through us, or anywhere in Canada and the US.

If our pieces are left outdoors and get well used, we guarantee they will form a patina. If you spill a glass of red wine on one of our concrete pieces and do not wipe it up it will stain. If you want a material that doesn’t change, looks the same as it ages, and will never stain we would not recommend concrete products for you.

Our concrete fire pits and furniture will get the patina that many people want, but are you one of those people? If not, you may want to consider glass or plastic products. If you like a patina, concrete and Sticks and Stones Furniture are for you!
