Free the Children
At Sticks +Stones, we believe in giving back and 1% of our bottom line goes toward improving the lives of others. Free The Children, the charity organization founded by Me to We in 1995, is the world’s largest organization of children helping children through education. Environmental
There are many ways to say it, but no matter how you phrase it, it’s back to the basics: Reduce, reuse, recycle and rethink. These are some of the ways we do it:
reduce
- Ninety percent of our materials come from within 100 miles
- We hire locally
reuse
- We’re currently installing rain barrels, it rains a lot in Squamish!
- We use reclaimed wood for our furniture
- Fly-ash and recycled glass are two components of our concrete mixture
recycle
- This is a no brainer: We recycle everything we can, from office supplies to wood and concrete waste at a full-phase organic recycling plant.
rethink
- We are always challenging ourselves to find innovative ways to incorporate the four R’s
- To decorate our showroom we used scrap cedar from a local mill and we repurposed our existing concrete floor
